This project is about children and their feelings about our current cultural climate. Since the beginning of 2017, it is apparent that not only adults but children have a myriad of emotions that includes fear, anxiety, and confusion. Through art therapy, these children created their own works of art as a way to express feelings that they otherwise could not put into words.
The children (who are members of the Variety Boys and Girls Club) were asked how their own interpersonal relationships have changed, as well as how they have seen other people’s relationships change. They expressed these feelings in regards to this shift in our cultural disregard for other’s beliefs and opinions.
Before the project started, each child was given a copy of this color wheel that visually explains how certain colors can represent various kinds of emotions. From this point on, they began creating their artwork.
